Freedom of Speech vs. National Security: Enhancing Resilience to Information Threats

On Tuesday, 31 October, the BCME co-organized journalist and strategic communication expert conversation focusing on Russia’s malign disinformation campaigns in Ukraine and similarities in other countries including Latvia.

The event entitled “Freedom of Speech vs. National Security: Enhancing Resilience to Information Threats” was part of a conversation series organized by Lviv Media Forum (Ukraine) and supported by the International Renaissance Foundation (Ukraine).

The conversation focused on responding to crucial questions: in what ways do the Latvian and Ukrainian approaches to recognizing and fortifying resilience against toxic narratives align, and where do they diverge? What methods are effective for gaining a more in-depth insight into the goals and tactics of the aggressor in information warfare? What are the various manifestations and risks associated with 'soft propaganda,' and how can it be effectively countered?
