The Baltic Centre for Media Excellence is a platform for advancing quality journalism in the Baltics, the Eastern Partnership countries, and beyond

Our mission
We promote professional growth, media intelligence and critical thinking.
We strive for positive change in journalism and communities it serves.

Our work
We work to strengthen independent journalism, critical media literacy, and media innovation across the Baltic region and Eastern Partnership countries.
We deliver needs-based media training to editorial teams of independent national and local media outlets. We monitor regional media trends and skills, and conduct audience research—especially focusing on groups most vulnerable to propaganda.
Our approach is highly tailored: we work one-on-one with newsrooms, customizing each workshop or consultancy to match their specific needs and goals. At the same time, we create spaces for joint reflection on the pressing challenges facing journalism today, helping to strengthen the journalistic community—a cornerstone of societal resilience.
Media literacy is a key pillar of our work. We engage directly with audiences—especially young people—through innovative projects that promote critical thinking, responsible media consumption, and informed content creation. We make media literacy engaging and impactful!
By fostering peer exchange and reflective dialogue, we help build a stronger, more connected journalistic community and a more resilient information space.
