Media Literacy
Pilna Doma 2019
BCME initiative Pilna Doma aims to strengthen understanding of the role of journalism in a democratic society and the ability to distinguish between quality journalism and propaganda.
During the 3rd season of Pilna Doma in fall 2019 11 journalists visited 46 Latvian secondary schools to explain the basic principles of quality journalism and improve students’ media literacy skills. Lectures were attended by 2255 students (30% were Russian-speaking).
9 videos and 3 internet quiz-type games were created to test the knowledge on key aspects of media literacy, as well to teach from real-life examples. 40 participants attended the editorial offices of three leading media - DELFI, Latvian Television and Latvian Radio and attend the award ceremony on 2nd December in Latvian National Library.
