CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: MEDIATHON FOR CREATIVE YOUTH

Are you 18-23 years old, living in Latvia, Lithuania, or Estonia, and passionate about creating impactful social media content?

Join our Media Hackathon (Mediathon) — a one-day event, offering you a unique opportunity to unleash your creativity, sharpen your critical thinking, and learn how to craft engaging, scroll-stopping social media content!

We're looking for talented young people like you to collaborate with top media professionals, compete for exciting prizes, and connect with like-minded peers from across the Baltics.

What Is the Mediathon?

The Mediathon is a one-day event in Riga where teams of young people come together to create engaging, impactful social media content ideas that are impossible to scroll past.

Your content should focus on topics that matter to you and your peers — subjects that grab attention, spark meaningful conversations, and inspire action. Possible themes include, but are not limited to:

  • Environment
  • Health
  • Migration
  • Social rights
  • Or any issue you feel is relevant to your community and important to highlight!

The goal of the Mediathon is to develop a concept for eye-catching, shareable content that highlights media literacy elements — critical thinking, fact-checking, myth debunking, and exposing disinformation. At the same time, it must resonate with young audiences and inspire action.

We’ve got you covered! If you’re selected, we’ll pay for your travel to Riga so you can fully focus on this exciting opportunity to make an impact.

What’s in It for You?

By joining the Mediathon, you will:

  • Gain expert-led training at DELFI newsroom (in your country of residence) on January 18, 2025, covering vital skills like critical thinking, fact-checking, mobile journalism, data visualization, and social media marketing.
  • Enjoy a paid trip to Riga on February 1, 2025, to participate in the Mediathon at the vibrant Kalnciema kvartāls, a creative hub in Riga.
  • Develop your media and content creation skills alongside industry professionals and peers.
  • Build valuable connections in the media world that can potentially open doors to exciting career opportunities.
  • Collaborate with like-minded, creative individuals in an inspiring and supportive environment, where your ideas can flourish.
  • Compete for amazing prizes: Winning teams will each receive a brand new Apple iPad 10.9" + 2nd generation Apple Pen, and all participants will be rewarded with valuable prizes!
