Launch Events of the programme Baltic Shield: Strengthening Independent Media

We are pleased to invite you to events organised by the The Baltic Centre for Media Excellence (BCME) with the support of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, taking place in Tallinn (August 25, 2026), Riga (August 27, 2026) and Vilnius (September 8, 2026).

The event will bring together journalists, editors, media organisations, researchers, cybersecurity experts, civil society representatives, and policy makers to discuss the growing challenges facing independent media. The programme will explore the evolving landscape of hybrid threats, AI-enabled attacks and cybersecurity risks, the impact of technology-facilitated gender-based violence on democratic participation and media freedom, and practical approaches to strengthening social and informational resilience.

The programme includes:

  • a presentation The New Digital Threat Landscape” by Jean Romain Roy (NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence);
  • a presentation “Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence: Understanding the New Landscape of Violence” (Marta Centre);
  • and workshops, tabletop exercises for regional media and panel discussions.
