This June, the Baltic Centre for Media Excellence (BCME) team once again joined the LAMPA Conversation Festival in Cēsis — Latvia’s largest platform for dialogue, debate, and civic engagement.

Under the inspiring theme “Freedom begins where apathy ends,” the festival brought together thousands of socially active people, diverse opinions, and meaningful conversations to tackle the challenges of our time.

At LAMPA, BCME Executive Director Gunta Sloga participated in a panel discussion organised by TV3 Group Latvia: “What is television today?”. Together with media professionals and content creators, she explored questions about television’s relevance in the digital age, its ability to reach younger audiences, and the need to adapt to fast-changing technologies and viewer habits. The discussion underscored an important insight: television is not dead — but its future depends on its willingness to evolve alongside its audiences.

You can watch the full discussion here.

LAMPA was also a valuable opportunity to meet and reconnect with colleagues and peers from the media and education fields. Informal conversations like these bring fresh energy and inspiration for future work. We were especially glad to meet our  partners from the Latvijas Mediju nozares kompetenču centrs (LMNKC)  – Vidzeme Augstskola (ViA) and Komercizglītības Centrs (KIC), to exchange ideas and gather inspiration for the work ahead

We are grateful to have been part of LAMPA’s unique atmosphere — a space where ideas meet, conversations thrive, and engagement drives change. With anticipation, we look forward to returning in 2026 to continue these important discussions and to keep building an informed, engaged society.
